Funded by the Justice Programme of the European Union and coordinated by the Law Institute of Lithuania, the LA-Child project runs from 2020 to 2021.
Every child facing justice as a suspect or accused person must have access to accessible, appropriate and quality legal aid, as the respect of his or her rights will greatly depend on the assistance he or she receives in this context.
The LA-Child project aims to strengthen the procedural rights of children in conflict with the law by improving regulations; developing guidelines for an accessible, appropriate and quality legal aid system; and identifying original, inspiring and innovative practices to be promoted.
Documentary and field research on legal aid for minors in conflict with the law will enable to establish an overview and develop these guidelines. On this basis, training for professionals will be organized and the guidelines will be promoted to competent authorities for legal aid throughout Europe.
